This week I have finalized most of the coasters and the method I am using. I burnt the paper with the HTH logo so it could be used as a stencil and all I have to do is fill it in and burn it over. It saves me more time then what I did before which was trace over the paper and burn over the indent it left inf the wood. I am as well working on getting strings to hang them as a decoration if not as a coaster. I have burnt my self once because I didn't realize I left the pen on but luckily it was a small burn on my middle finger and I learned form that mistake.
Week 3
This Week I changed my senior project from building a trophy case to wood burning. It's something I've done before and I am very happy to do. It's the art of burning designs into wood with a pen.The pen comes with different tips for different projects. The pen heats up and you're ready to start burning your designs. I make outlines on the wood first so that I can change up the way it looks without doing any damage. The wood I'm using is Oak wood for the coasters and plywood for the boards. These are nice and white woods so when I burn them the color will pop. And once I polish them it will look nice and sleek. I ordered the wood from amazon and got extras just in case I mess up and to have as a draft of my work. The pen I've had for a while. Back in junior year I used it to make a board for my mom in 6th period Exploring craft. That's where my interest started with woodworking. Even carving is something that I'd love to do. It's therapeutic to me. I'm glad I changed plans to something I would enjoy more.
